Are you confident working with people, comfortable making decisions and passionate about supporting positive outcomes for our hapori? We’re looking for an Āpiha Whakamana – Tūnga to join our Compliance Team and help ensure parking across the Horowhenua District is safe, fair and accessible for everyone.

He aha tēnei mahi? | About the role

The purpose of this role is to support parking compliance across the Horowhenua District, helping create safe and accessible public spaces for our community.

Parking is the primary focus of the role. You’ll be out and about undertaking parking patrols, responding to pātai, tono and complaints, investigating parking offences and helping people understand their responsibilities.

We take a balanced approach to compliance. He mea nui te kōrero me te whakaako – education, communication and engagement are important parts of achieving compliance. You’ll engage with our community, explain requirements clearly and apply legislation fairly and consistently.

As part of the wider Compliance Team, you’ll also support other regulatory activities when operational priorities require it, giving you the opportunity to contribute across a range of compliance mahi.

Ō mahi | What you’ll be doing

You’ll undertake parking patrols across the district, respond to customer enquiries and complaints, investigate potential parking offences and take appropriate enforcement action. You’ll promote compliance through education and communication, maintain accurate records and apply legislation, policies and procedures fairly and consistently.

You’ll also support other Compliance Team activities as required, working collaboratively with kaimahi and stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes for our community.

You’re someone who enjoys being out in the community and working with a wide range of people. You communicate confidently and respectfully, including in challenging situations, and can remain calm and professional when conversations are difficult. You have good judgement, pay attention to detail and understand the importance of fairness and consistency.

You’re organised, reliable and comfortable working independently, with a willingness to learn and contribute to the wider Compliance Team. Previous compliance, enforcement, regulatory or customer-facing experience would be an advantage, but we’re most interested in your attitude, communication skills and sound judgement.

A full New Zealand driver licence is required.
