We’re looking for a community-minded and solutions-focused Compliance Officer – Licensing to join our Community Experience and Services Group.

This is a varied and rewarding role where you’ll help support safe, healthy, and thriving communities through regulatory and compliance activities across alcohol licensing, food safety, and environmental health. From processing alcohol licence applications and undertaking food verifications, to responding to environmental health enquiries and supporting frontline customer interactions, no two days will look the same.

You’ll work closely with businesses, members of the public, and internal teams to provide practical guidance, promote compliance, and deliver customer-focused outcomes that are fair, consistent, and mana-enhancing.

You’ll be someone who enjoys building positive relationships and providing practical, customer-focused solutions. You’ll bring a strong sense of professionalism, good judgement, and the ability to confidently navigate legislation and policy in a way that is both fair and approachable.

Whether your background is in compliance, environmental health, licensing, regulation, or customer service, you’ll be comfortable managing a varied workload, communicating with a wide range of people, and working collaboratively as part of a supportive team. A current full driver licence is essential.

Ngā kawenga matua – What you’ll be doing

In this role, you’ll support the delivery of alcohol licensing, food safety, and environmental health services across the district. Your work will include processing applications and registrations, undertaking inspections and verifications, responding to customer enquiries and complaints, and providing clear, practical advice to businesses and members of the public.

You’ll also contribute to wider regulatory and compliance activities across the team, helping ensure services are delivered in a timely, consistent, and community-focused way.
