Join Horowhenua District Council in a pivotal role as we consolidate Local Water services under Council oversight, emphasizing compliance and regulatory excellence. We seek an accomplished Compliance and Regulatory Lead for our Infrastructure Group to ensure our Solid Waste and Local Waters operations meet all standards and regulations. Leveraging your extensive experience in Solid Waste and Three Waters activities, you will establish and manage a comprehensive compliance, regulatory, and consent program. Reporting to the Commercial and Operations Manager and collaborating closely with the Local Waters Operations and Solid Waste teams, you will enhance our regulatory compliance framework. This position presents a unique opportunity to lead impactful initiatives, exceed service delivery requirements, and build strong partnerships with stakeholders to uphold HDC’s regulatory obligations effectively.

He kōrero mōu - About you

We are people focused so the ideal candidate will have a growth mind set and be comfortable working in a collaborative environment and will be actively seeking continuous improvement. You'll ideally have a degree in Civil Engineering or in Sciences, but definitely have knowledge and understanding of the Compliance and Regulatory Space. Previously you'll have worked in a similar role and from that will be well versed in relevant legislation and local government procedures and policies. 

You'll be able to think laterally and strategically, and always thinking of how we can do things better. Bringing your ability to analyse, delve into the detail but also see the long term, as well as being an encouraging and supportive team leader, you'll be able to dive right in from day 1.
