Rowing New Zealand seeks an enthusiastic and passionate Community and Schools Rowing Coordinator to join our team. 

The Role: 

In this role, you will support the delivery of our community and school rowing activities, collaborating closely with the General Manager of Community and Development. Your efforts will help strengthen and enhance the relationships between Rowing New Zealand (RNZ) and its community stakeholders. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Develop relationships with community and school rowing committees and race officials. 
  • Collaborate with other national sporting organisations (NSOs) to share information and ideas. 
  • Lead, motivate, support, and positively influence volunteer networks. 
  • Foster connections with all associations and support the growth of school rowing across New Zealand. 
  • Provide invaluable support for rowing regattas. 

About You: 

  • Exceptional relationship-building skills, able to liaise with people at all levels and influence change 
  • Ability to contribute positively and proactively to the culture of Rowing New Zealand 
  • Tertiary qualification in sport/event management or similar 
  • Experience and knowledge of rowing would be preferred but not essential
  • Experience working within community and school sports environments 
  • Proven ability to develop and lead sports development programs 
  • Availability to work some weekends and undertake domestic travel over the summer months, sometimes for extended periods 
  • Forward-thinker, capable of making independent decisions 
  • Calm and composed under pressure 
  • Excellent multi-tasking abilities 
  • Solution-focused mindset 
  • Superior IT literacy 
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills

Rowing New Zealand (RNZ) is the national sport organisation for all rowing activities in New Zealand. RNZ has a kaitiaki responsibility for the sport and supports the delivery of quality experiences for participants across the pathway from Community (schools, clubs, universities) to Development (athlete and coach pathways) to Performance (international campaigns, including World Championships and Olympic Games).
