Join our Independent Endeavours service, supporting people to build confidence, connection and meaningful participation in their communities. This role is about walking alongside tangata whai ora to identify their goals, strengthen life skills, and access real opportunities in everyday settings.

As a Support Worker, you’ll bring a strengths-based, recovery-focused approach and a passion for helping people move towards greater independence, participation and purpose, while using your excellent relationship skills, resilience and flexibility to provide community-based support to people across West Auckland.

Alongside one-to-one support, you will also facilitate and co-create community-based groups, creating safe, engaging spaces where people can connect, learn new skills, and build a sense of belonging. These groups are a key part of how we support participation, reduce isolation, and grow confidence in real-world environments.

 We would welcome applications from people who have: 

  • A NZ Certificate in Health and Wellbeing Level 4 (Mental Health and Addictions) or equivalent qualification.
  • A proven ability to work effectively with tangata whaiora from various cultures, especially Maori and Pasifika.
  • A positive and professional attitude. 
  • An ability to role model how to move forward in a journey to wellbeing.
  • Good computer and record keeping skills.  
  • Familiarity with the West Auckland community.
  • Excellent communication, relationship and advocacy skills.  
  • Creativity, enthusiasm and persistence.  
  • A mature, empathetic personality, and a sense of humour.  
  • A full, clean, NZ driver's license.
