We are looking for someone confident, adaptable, and empathetic to join our team in a rewarding role that truly makes a difference. This role primarily involves supporting clients impacted by a brain injury or long-term condition, focusing on life skills, independence, and community engagement. 

While this position may suit a new graduate Occupational Therapist, Speech & Language Therapist, Nurse or similar, this is not essential. However, a minimum of level 3 Health & Wellbeing certificate is required. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support clients to access their local community services and activities. 
  • Be a positive role model while offering guidance in a nurturing way.
  • Help create a warm, respectful, and motivating environment.
  • Respond constructively to behavioural challenges and support positive strategies with the wider team.
  • Engage with community providers (e.g. WINZ, HNZ, CADS, Mental Health, and other local services).
  • Work independently within the client's home and community, supporting them to build on their skills and independence. 

What We Need from You:

  • Knowledge of traumatic brain injury, physical disability, and experience with mental health or addiction (Level 3-4 preferred) 
  • Experience supporting clients with communication challenges is a plus.
  • Full, clean driver's licence and access to your own vehicles. 
  • Clean criminal record and willingness to undergo police checks.
  • Strong cultural competency, including understanding of Māori perspectives and tikanga Māori.
  • A caring, patient, and client-centred approach.
