Are you a natural connector, passionate about people, and ready to lead a kaupapa that makes a real difference? 

We’re looking for a proactive, community-minded individual to lead the Mayor’s Taskforce for Jobs (MTFJ) programme across Horowhenua. As our Community Employment Connector, you’ll be the key link between local jobseekers and employers—championing pathways into employment, especially for those not currently in work, training, or education. 

This is a unique opportunity to deliver meaningful outcomes for our district, working alongside local businesses, iwi/hapū, training providers, and social support services. 

He kōrero mōu – About You 

You’ll bring: 

  • Experience in business, recruitment, employment services, or employer engagement 
  • Strong communication skills—confident, clear, and able to build trust across diverse groups 
  • Programme coordination experience, including reporting, budgeting, and stakeholder engagement 
  • A good understanding of the local employment landscape and workforce needs 
  • Knowledge of social and employment readiness services and/or youth development 
  • Strategic thinking, resilience, and a collaborative mindset 
  • A genuine passion for community and a can-do attitude 

Ngā kawenga – What You’ll Be Doing 

  • Leading the MTFJ programme across Horowhenua 
  • Connecting employers with jobseekers and promoting the MTFJ kaupapa 
  • Building strong partnerships with MSD, iwi/hapū, training providers, and support services 
  • Supporting the Work Ready Champion to deliver aligned, client-focused outcomes 
  • Managing programme reporting, contract deliverables, and budget 
  • Communicating progress and success stories to key stakeholders, including the Mayor 
  • Advocating for jobseekers and helping remove barriers to employment
