Due to maternity cover, Horowhenua District Council has an exciting opening, welcoming a superstar to our dynamic and influential team. Now's your chance to embrace the opportunity to shape a brighter future for the Horowhenua community as a passionate & influential advisor in our team - a team that is making a real difference in the community. This is a 12 month fixed term placement.

You'll be empowered to use your skills and experience contributing to all that you do alongside a dedicated team who are committed to an exciting work programme and in particular, delivering on the recently adopted Community Wellbeing Strategy - He Hapori Pakari. You'll also collaborate with Mark Hammond, Community Facilities and Services Manager. A self confessed local government nerd, Mark's experience in community development will provide you with an ally and sounding board. You'll have the chance to share your own inspiring stories, fueling your collective passion for making a meaningful difference. #MahiTahi - It's a team effort!

Joining Horowhenua District Council means becoming part of a vibrant and dynamic team under the broader Community Facilities and Services umbrella. You'll work alongside like-minded individuals who are dedicated to creating positive change and fostering an environment where our community thrives. You'll be based at Council on Oxford Street where it's not uncommon to take part in the odd 'Stuff' quiz or a special dress-up days such as Pride or Pink Shirt Day - not to mention the baking that comes with it. 

He kōrero mōu - About you

You'll be responsible for working with diverse sectors, and sections of the community to ensure a holistic approach. You will liaise with a range of people to lead, facilitate, and effectively deliver community-led projects, funding opportunities, community capacity building, and action plans to improve wellbeing. You'll be a people person. Somebody that members of our community groups want to approach, to say "hello" and chat about all things, community development. And, all with a smile. 

You'll be part of a team that supports and empowers neighbourhoods, communities, and groups to enhance overall wellbeing and drive positive change. You'll be an advocate for change, helping staff and the organisation navigate future plans.
