Commercial Project Manager
Ultimate Builders is expanding its commercial construction division and has created a new Commercial Project Manager role to support a strong pipeline of work across Waikato and the South Island.
This is a hands-on, end-to-end role for a practical, commercially focused Project Manager, delivering both Ultimate Group developments and external client projects.
The Role
You’ll take ownership of the commercial management, design coordination and delivery of commercial construction projects, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to Ultimate Builders’ standards.
Your focus will be on developing design and construction documentation, working with consultants to ensure designs are coordinated, buildable, and aligned with the programme and budget.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage commercial tenders, pricing, budgets and subcontractor packages
- Review drawings and specifications with a focus on buildability, risk and cost
- Coordinate consultants and manage RFIs and design changes
- Lead projects from contract award through to completion
- Provide direction and support to Site Managers
- Manage programme, costs, variations and reporting
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants and trade partners
About You
You’re an experienced Commercial Project Manager who values quality workmanship, accountability and clear communication. You’re comfortable taking ownership of projects, leading site teams and working collaboratively to deliver the right outcomes.
You’ll bring:
- Proven experience delivering commercial construction projects
- Strong commercial, financial and contract management capability
- Experience coordinating design at the developed design/construction documentation stage
- A practical, delivery-focused approach

Projects are located across Putāruru, Matamata, Hamilton and Christchurch, with the role based from either the Hamilton or Putāruru office.
