This is a full-time Clinical Administration Assistant and Receptionist role at Lobb Optical Invercargill, located in the heart of Invercargill Central Southland. As a member of the medical administration team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth running of our optometry clinics and providing excellent customer service to our patients. 

What you'll be doing:

  • Welcoming patients and visitors with warmth, professionalism, and outstanding customer service.
  • Managing appointments, clinician schedules, recalls, and waiting lists.
  • Responding to patient enquiries in person, over the phone, and via email.
  • Preparing and maintaining accurate electronic patient records.
  • Supporting the clinical team with patient triaging and pre-case history collection.
  • Processing payments, invoices, and health insurance claims where required.
  • Performing a variety of general administrative duties to keep the practice running efficiently.
  • Maintaining strict patient confidentiality and professionalism at all times.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys helping people and thrives in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Ideally, you'll have:

  • Previous experience in an optometry, medical, or healthcare reception/administration role.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with patients of all ages.
  • Strong organisational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Confidence using computer systems and electronic patient management software.
  • The ability to remain calm, professional, and efficient under pressure.
  • A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and commitment to delivering exceptional patient care.
  • Experience as an Eyewear Consultant or Optical Dispenser is a bonus
