We are looking for a new colleague to join our team at Family Works, Presbyterian Support Otago. This opportunity to provide frontline support to anyone accessing our organisation doesn’t come along every day, but right now you have the chance to be part of the Client Services team, who are key to our front of house.  You will be the first point of contact for people who might be in high-stress situations.

About the Role

You will work alongside another Client Services Coordinator to support the delivery of front of house, reception and foodbank services to anyone accessing Family Works or Presbyterian Support Otago. You will work closely with TFM clients and support them with accessing the support or services as identified appropriate. 

As a member of the Family Works, you will be a part of the wider Dunedin support centre team, alongside being part of a much larger regional team of colleagues. This role offers the opportunity to be involved in and support others who are making a real difference for tamariki, rangatahi, whanau and tangata whaiora in our community. 

This is a very small but valuable team at Presbyterian Support Otago, and you will be surrounded by colleagues making a real difference in your community. 

Hours: This is a permanent full-time position working 40 hours per week, Monday- Friday, 8.30 am- 5.00 pm. Based in our Dunedin office.


About You:

We would love you to:

  • Have experience working in a busy reception, administrative or customer service role and have highly developed interpersonal skills. 
  • Be a competent user of the Microsoft Office suite of products and understand office procedures IT literate and competent using different Data Management systems.     
  • Have an awareness of risk assessment and the ability to read a situation to act appropriately and know when to escalate. 
  • Be able to your initiative and make decisions on the spot.
  • Be able to stay calm and composed when dealing with people who may be distressed or frustrated and be able to de-escalate where appropriate. 
  • Have the professional maturity to handle sensitive/confidential information and to act with compassion and integrity.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and demonstrate commitment and drive in the attainment of set goals 
  • An understanding of the social service sector, including the impact of mental health, addiction, and family violence, is desirable but not essential.
  • Being able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Skills and experience in online banking, computer systems and databases to maximise the use of technology for improved service provision.      
  • Ability to communicate well, connect and be empathetic with a wide range of people.
