Southern Cross Invercargill Hospital

Southern Cross Invercargill Hospital is the southernmost private surgical hospital in the Southern Cross network, it is widely known and used by people throughout the Southland and Queenstown-Wakatipu basin areas.

The hospital features advanced theatre systems, including robotic orthopaedic surgery. Our highly skilled and caring team provide excellent care to 4200 patients per year. Our elective surgical services include Breast; Endoscopy and Gastroenterology; General; Gynaecology; Ophthalmology; Oral and Maxillofacial; Orthopaedic; Ear Nose and Throat; and Urology surgery. 

Mō te Tūranga | About the Role

Behind every great hospital is a team that keeps it running safely and seamlessly, and our cleaning team is a vital part of that. As a Cleaner, you’ll play an important role in supporting patient safety, dignity, and wellbeing by delivering a consistently high standard of cleaning across both clinical and non-clinical areas, including laundry services. 

You’ll work closely with the wider Admin & Support Services team, Ward and Theatre Managers, and the General Manager to help maintain a safe, welcoming environment for everyone. You’ll follow hospital policies, infection prevention standards, and asset management processes, while also managing stock and supplies efficiently to support the smooth, cost-effective running of the hospital. You’ll be someone who enjoys being part of a team, stays flexible to support rostering and business needs, and brings care, respect, and attention to detail to everything you do.

This is a part-time permanent role (0.2 FTE), two days per week. The available shifts are Monday and Thursday from 5pm – 9pm, with the opportunity to provide cover for shifts when required.

  • Previous cleaning experience is great to have. Healthcare experience is a bonus, but not essential as training will be provided
  • Reliable, punctual, and enjoys being part of a supportive team
  • Takes pride in delivering high-quality work and has a strong eye for detail
  • Confident following processes, guidelines, and safety procedures
  • Brings a positive, caring attitude, with an understanding of the importance of discretion and respect in a hospital environment
