Claims Technical Lead - Natural Hazards
We’re looking for an experienced Claims Technical Lead to join our Natural Hazards team on a fixed-term contract through to 5 November 2027.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about technical excellence and developing the capability of others. As the Claims Technical Lead within a small and highly collaborative team, you'll play an integral role in supporting quality decision-making, providing technical guidance, and driving consistent customer outcomes.
You'll act as a trusted referral point for complex claims matters, providing technical leadership and support across the team. While experience within the natural hazards or catastrophe claims environment would be beneficial, it is not essential. We're interested in people who bring strong technical capability, sound judgement, and a desire to continue developing their expertise within a specialised claims environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Effectively manage a varied portfolio of complex and technical claims.
- Manage complaints, escalations, and support the resolution of complex customer matters.
- Contribute to projects, initiatives, and operational improvements.
- Coach, mentor, and support team members to build technical capability and confidence.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
About You
- At least 4 years' experience in claims management or a related insurance discipline.
- Strong portfolio management skills and the ability to balance competing priorities effectively.
- Proven ability to manage a varied workload while maintaining high standards and quality outcomes.
- Confidence providing technical guidance and acting as a trusted referral point for others.
- A passion for coaching, mentoring, and developing capability within a team.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- A collaborative approach and commitment to achieving positive customer and business outcomes.
- Experience in natural hazards, catastrophe, property, or complex claims environments would be advantageous but is not essential.
