Mō Tēnei Tūranga Mahi | About the Role

As part of the Executive Leadership Team, the Chief Financial and Operations Officer (CFOO) will play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction of Wintec. This role leads Finance, Property & Facilities, Legal, Venues and Digital, ensuring operational excellence, financial sustainability, and strong commercial outcomes. You’ll be the principal financial spokesperson, guiding executive decision-making and ensuring Wintec is well positioned to meet future challenges and opportunities.

This is a leadership role that balances strategy with execution – driving financial strength, enabling efficient operations, and ensuring our people and resources are aligned to deliver on Wintec’s mission and priorities.

The appointing salary for this role will be between $200,000 to 230,000 dependent on skills and experience.

Key responsibilities include: 

  • Providing strategic financial and operational leadership across Finance, Property & Facilities, Legal, Venues and Digital.
  • Ensuring financial sustainability, treasury management, and effective capital investment planning.
  • Leading operational performance through process improvements, efficiency gains, and resource optimisation.
  • Supporting executive decision-making with robust commercial insights, risk management, and compliance oversight.
  • Championing Wintec’s culture, values, and commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, equity, and learner success.

You’ll be a seasoned leader who brings both financial expertise and operational oversight, with the ability to influence at the highest level. You thrive in complex environments and can balance strategic vision with practical delivery.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Executive-level experience in financial and operational leadership, with a proven ability to drive transformation and deliver results.
  • Strong commercial and strategic acumen, backed by recognised professional qualifications (CAANZ or equivalent) and H&S knowledge and expertise 
  • A values-led leadership style that champions equity, inclusion, and Te Tiriti o Waitangi, while inspiring people and building strong stakeholder relationships.
