We are looking for a passionate, reliable and organised Cook to join our friendly team at BestStart Silverdale, a centre licensed for 125 children.
About the Role
This is a permanent, part-time position working 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
In this role, you will play an important part in supporting the health and wellbeing of our tamariki by preparing fresh, nutritious and delicious meals and snacks each day. You will take pride in maintaining a clean, safe and hygienic kitchen, ensuring food safety standards and dietary requirements are always met.
You will also be responsible for managing food supplies, working within a set budget and collaborating with our teaching team to ensure every child's nutritional needs are catered for. Basic computer skills and good organisation will be important, and there may be occasional opportunities to provide support in the classroom.
What We're Looking For
- Knowledge of food safety practices and kitchen hygiene.
- An understanding of allergies, food sensitivities and individual dietary requirements.
- A genuine passion for cooking and baking.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- The ability to manage food supplies and work within a budget.
- Basic computer skills.
- A positive, team-focused attitude and willingness to lend a hand when needed.
- A genuine interest in supporting the health and wellbeing of young children.
