At BestStart St Albans, we're looking for a friendly, organised, and motivated Centre Administrator to join our welcoming team. Our centre is located on a quiet street near the Avon-Ōtākaro River in a beautiful, historic converted villa, providing a unique and nurturing environment where tamariki can thrive, explore, and be themselves.

We are passionate about creating meaningful learning experiences and supporting children to develop confidence through managed risk-taking opportunities. By encouraging children to explore, problem-solve, and challenge themselves in a safe environment, we help build resilience, independence, and a lifelong love of learning.

As the first point of contact for many of our families, you'll play a key role in supporting the smooth day-to-day running of our centre. From enrolments and family communication to accounts administration and compliance support, you'll help create a positive experience for both our tamariki and whānau.

If you enjoy building relationships, thrive in a busy environment, and have a keen eye for detail, we'd love to hear from you.

About the Role

We're seeking an outstanding and organised Centre Administrator to become an integral part of our close-knit team.

This varied role is essential to the success of our centre, ensuring we can continue providing high-quality care and education while meeting Ministry of Education requirements. No two days are the same, and you'll enjoy a mix of customer service, administration, and centre support responsibilities.

In this role, you will:

  • Welcome and support current and prospective families
  • Manage enrolments and bookings
  • Respond to family enquiries and maintain positive relationships
  • Process parent accounts, payments, and direct debits
  • Complete data entry and administration tasks accurately and on time
  • Support compliance and Ministry of Education requirements
  • Assist with centre communications and day-to-day operations
  • Occasionally spend time connecting with and supporting our tamariki

You'll be well supported by our National Administration Support Team, who provide ongoing guidance, training, and assistance through a dedicated helpdesk.

This is a permanent position working 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Role Requirements

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Is compassionate and welcoming towards children and whānau
  • Has strong administration and customer service experience
  • Demonstrates excellent organisation and attention to detail
  • Learns quickly and can confidently manage multiple priorities
  • Is proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Has experience with accounts administration and resolving account queries
  • Enjoys working as part of a supportive team and going the extra mile for families

How to Apply: If you're passionate about supporting children, families, and your team through exceptional administration, we'd love to hear from you.

Apply now and become part of the team at BestStart St Albans, where every day is an opportunity to make a positive difference in the lives of tamariki and their whānau. We can't wait to welcome you to our centre.
