Join BestStart Hei Hei and support our vibrant, community-focused centre!

BestStart Hei Hei is on the lookout for an organised and friendly Centre Administrator to join our passionate team. Our centre is home to four spacious classrooms, a dedicated teaching team with a strong connection to our local community. We’re proud of our thriving vegetable garden, community food pantry, and our newly renovated outdoor spaces.

Guided by our vision — “Growing Together with AROHA” — we’re committed to creating a place where tamariki, whānau, and kaiako grow together.

Why You’ll Love Working With Us

At BestStart, we’re proud to be a progressive and supportive leader in early childhood education. We care for our people just as much as we care for our tamariki.

Here’s what you’ll enjoy:

  • Support from a strong National Support and Admin team
  • Ongoing professional development through our online platform Whare Ako
  • Opportunities to grow your skills and career
  • Discounted childcare
  • Free annual flu vaccinations
  • Access to our staff wellbeing programme

About the Role

This is a part-time, fixed-term role (parental leave cover) until August 2026, working 25–30 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Hours are flexible for the right person.

As our Centre Administrator, you’ll be the welcoming face for our whānau and the organisational backbone of the centre. You’ll keep things running smoothly behind the scenes and ensure every detail is taken care of.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Responding to parent and enrolment enquiries
  • Managing bookings, data entry, and general admin tasks
  • Maintaining accurate parent accounts and processing payments
  • Meeting reporting deadlines and keeping systems up to date
  • Confidently using Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Supporting our teaching team — and occasionally joining in with our tamariki!

You’ll also have the support of our dedicated National Admin Support team, who are only a call away.

About You

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Compassionate, approachable, and great with people
  • Organised with strong attention to detail
  • Comfortable juggling multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Experienced in basic accounts, data entry, and customer service
  • Confident using Microsoft Office
  • A team player with a can-do attitude and willingness to help wherever needed
