BestStart Montessori Kilbirnie is growing, and with that growth comes the need for dedicated administrative support. We are seeking a Centre Administrator to provide essential support to our team, whānau, and tamariki while helping the centre run smoothly each day.

BestStart Montessori Kilbirnie is the only Montessori centre in Wellington catering for children under two. With excellent teacher‑to‑child ratios, small class sizes, and regular excursions to Kilbirnie Park, the library, Rita Angus, and the local fire station, we create a nurturing environment where young children thrive.

Our well‑established team of six Montessori‑trained teachers has built strong relationships with families and the wider community, making our centre a welcoming and supportive place to be.

About the Role

As Centre Administrator, you will be the welcoming face of the centre each morning and a key support to the Centre Manager and teaching team. This role is essential in ensuring we meet Ministry of Education requirements and provide exceptional service to our families.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing warm, professional customer service to whānau
  • Managing bookings, enrolments, and parent queries
  • Maintaining accurate parent accounts, direct debits, and payments
  • Meeting daily, weekly, and termly administrative deadlines
  • Supporting occupancy management and roll projections
  • Ordering stock and supporting centre operations
  • Assisting with rosters
  • Managing debt and account follow‑ups
  • Supporting ratios in the morning when required
  • Contributing to a positive, welcoming centre culture

This is a permanent part-time position working 20 hours per week, Monday - Friday mornings.
