Mō te tūranga: About the role:
We currently have an exciting position for Casual Visitor Ranger/Educator to join our team. 

Casual Visitor Ranger/Educators are our front line in engaging our visitors and delivering face to face interpretation. They are the friendly welcoming faces out in the Zoo ensuring our visitors have a fun, meaningful, animal rich experience. 

Casual Visitor Ranger/Educators connect our community with the animals we care for at the Zoo, through animal talks, activities, learning programmes and Animal Close Encounters.

  • Available to work flexible hours including weekends, evenings and public holidays.
  • Loves working with people and enjoys being part of a great team. 
  • Has a strong customer focus and is open, friendly, and curious.
  • Thrives on being creative and enthusiastic.
  • Demonstrates excellent organisational skills.
  • Has previous experience working in a visitor attraction or education facility.
  • Is interested in environmental education and passionate about conservation.
  • Will enjoy connecting people with animals.
  • Have a good level of fitness (there is a lot of walking, and we are on a hill!)
  • Level-headed and takes health and safety seriously.

  • Successful applicants will need to complete a Ministry of Justice and Police Vetting checks, and a Drug and Alcohol Test.  All of which we arrange for you through the providers.
