We are seeking an experienced Op Shop Retail Assistant to oversee the daily operations, with the key focus of optimising sales revenue through excellent customer service. You will lead our Op Shop team on a casual, as required basis to cover Op Shop Managers and Sales Assistants leave throughout the year. Role 1: Will be based in one of our Nelson stores, Nelson or Richmond, with the flexibility to travel to these locations as required.  

Role 2: will be based in our Motueka SPCA Op Shop. 

The position will be busy, challenging, rewarding and fun! 

You will be responsible for the management of the shop and the volunteer team. This includes a high standard of customer service, online sales, general administration and reporting. We are seeking an enthusiastic individual with a positive attitude. You will have good attention to detail and the ability to merchandise and present a retail shop in a way that draws customers through the door.

About the Role: 

• Customer service and sales

• Leading and training the volunteer team

• Visual merchandising and display 

• Achieving sales budgets to fundraise for animal welfare

• Delivering a high standard of online sales service

• Undertaking daily cash up and banking

• Maintaining the Health and Safety of the shop

 Our ideal candidate will: 

· Have retail experience, second hand retail experience would be an advantage, however not essential 

  Can adapt to working in different shops and locations. 

· Have excellent communication and customer service skills, be solutions focused with friendly and a positive can-do attitude

· Have people leadership experience, ideally within the not for profit sector with volunteers 

· Be a self-motivated team player with a positive attitude and a willingness to work hard

· Demonstrate empathy and resilience

· Have excellent organisational skills and be able to prioritise and effectively manage workloads

· Have strong administration, computer skills and merchandising experience.
