 Causal Relief Worker 

 About this role

The purpose of this role is to provide casual relief staff support across Transitional Housing to maintain staffing ratios to ensure residents are supported in a safe, respectful, empathetic and client-centred manner. Duties

  • Carry out tasks across a broad spectrum of roles within the hostel as have been delegated to you.
  • Assist in the kitchen with meal preparation & service.
  • Support residents with their chores/daily living activities and appointments outside of the hostel.
  • Join in or facilitate some activities. 
  • Security and Monitoring.

Skills & Experience

  • Experience working in the sector with a focus on client engagement in the field of homelessness, mental health / addiction and residential care.
  • Experienced in shift work shift work particularly establishing routine around night shift.
  • Ability to de-escalate situations and manage own emotional regulation.
  • Ability to build rapport, build and maintain relationships and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to solve problems and be resourceful.

Skills, experience and knowledge may also be obtained from a number of different experiences. For example, from paid work, voluntary work, work undertaken within your Church, Marae, or from specific iwi/whānau responsibilities.
