Mō Tēnei Tūranga Mahi | About the Role

We are seeking a Carpentry Tutor to join our Trades and Technology team at EIT | Te Pūkenga, based in Hawke’s Bay. This role involves teaching carpentry theory and practical subjects across all levels in a project-based learning environment. You will play a key role in shaping the next generation of carpentry professionals by providing hands-on learning experiences and mentoring students.

The appointing salary for this role will be between $75,000 and $85,000, dependent on skills and experience.

You will report to the Assistant Head of School and will be responsible for:

  • Teaching carpentry unit standards across all levels.
  • Facilitating engaging and practical learning experiences.
  • Providing pastoral care and mentoring to students.
  • Participating in assessment, moderation, and programme development.
  • Maintaining accurate student and programme records.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Extensive experience in the carpentry industry (essential).
  • Relevant tertiary qualification and trade certification (essential).
  • Well-developed oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate links between theory and practice.
  • Commitment to student success and cultural inclusivity.
  • Licensed Building Practitioner status (desirable).
