At Te Wiremu Lifecare & Village, our Caregivers are responsible for helping our residents enjoy a better every day. We only want the best for our clients and are seeking a caring, empathetic professional. You will bring a genuine empathy for people and the desire to help them make the most of everyday. You will be a team player and have exceptional time management.
As a Caregiver, you will use your skills to:
- Work together in a team to provide a safe, caring, and supportive environment for our residents.
- Follow individual resident care plans.
- Form lasting relationships with residents and their whanāu | family.
- Adapt and support your wider team members to create a great team environment.
Skills & Experience / He pūkenga tou
- A great team spirit with empathy and drive to make a difference in the lives of others.
- Good communication skills and the ability to clearly communicate with residents, their families and your team members.
- Minimum NZQA Level 2 Certificate in Health and Wellbeing, or an equivalent New Zealand or overseas qualification (e.g. Bachelor of Nursing, Diploma in Nursing)
- Experience within aged care would be beneficial, but not essential
- Understanding of Nga Paerewa sectors standards and applying the Treaty of Waitangi standards in the workplace.

Te Wiremu House Lifecare is an 85-bed Care Home and Hospital, located in the sunny east coast city of Gisborne. Part of the Gisborne community since 1960, Te Wiremu House is set amongst beautifully landscaped gardens just a hop, skip and jump from the town centre where you’ll find all the essentials.
We recognise the Treaty of Waitangi and its importance to Māori and how it applies to the work at Heritage Lifecare. This includes adhering to the concepts of whanaungatanga, whakapapa and manaakitanga when dealing with people to foster an environment where people can work together with ease and understanding.
