About the Role
With our growing enrolments, we are looking for a dynamic and nurturing toddler caregiver to join our team at BestStart Orewa West. If you are a team player who enjoys engaging alongside our youngest tamariki, this may be the perfect centre for you!

Our centre features beautiful, spacious outdoor play areas, providing a wonderful environment for children to explore, learn, and grow. As a fairly new centre, there is plenty of opportunity for your own personal career growth as we continue to expand. You'll be working alongside a team of experienced and passionate teachers who are dedicated to making a positive difference in the daily lives of our little learners.

You’ll report to the Centre Manager and work closely within a supportive team to provide quality care and education to our tamariki.

What You’ll Do:

  • Provide exceptional care and education to our infants and toddlers.
  • Engage in meaningful interactions that nurture learning, confidence, and development.
  • Participate fully in centre activities and assist across classrooms as needed.
  • Support the smooth operation of the centre at all levels.

This is a permanent, full-time position (40 hours per week, Monday–Friday).

What We’re Looking For:
We are seeking someone who is passionate about making a difference in young children’s lives. While an ECE qualification is not required, experience working with children under five—especially toddlers—is essential. A positive attitude, initiative, and the ability to take direction are also key to success in this role.

Why Join BestStart?
At BestStart, we are committed to being a progressive and adaptable leader in the ECE sector, recognising the valuable contributions of our teachers and caregivers.

Other Benefits Include:

  • Access to our online learning platform, Whare Ako.
  • Career progression support—we’ll help you take your career to the next level!
  • $2,000 referral bonus for recommending a Qualified Teacher*.
  • Health and wellbeing support, including:
    • Subsidised health insurance with Southern Cross*.
    • Free annual flu vaccinations.
    • Confidential counselling through EAP.
    • Wellbeing programs.
    • Sick leave available from day one.
    • Additional week of leave for 10 years of service.
