About the Job

It is very exciting times at Kernohan's, none the least because the brand new Hans Laser F-Series CNC Laser Cutting machine purchased in 2022 is now pumping. This investment in new technology is clear evidence of the company's drive for growth through innovation. 

Complementing this significant investment in leading edge equipment is a dedicated operations team tasked with delivering high quality product to our diverse client base. Due to an internal transfer, we are now seeking a Trainee CNC Laser Cutter & Fabricator to join the team and further develop as a CNC Laser professional. 

You will get to increase your skills and experience to:

  • Read drawings, blueprints, models and technical specifications ,etc. 
  • Undertake job cost estimating and pricing.
  • Produce high quality parts and materials by programming the Laser to perform the right operations.
  • Generate QA procedures and check/inspection points for each job.
  • Ensure proper QA inspections  are undertaken until fabrication is completed.

About you

Although very useful, you do not need to have a mechanical background. You are however a practical, hands on person, someone who likes to learn and to stretch themselves, and to take up development opportunities when they occur. 

Ideally, you will have:

  • Exposure to  relevant environments such as manufacturing, graphic design, signage production or similar.
  • Experience of fabrication in light materials such as plastics, alloys or stainless steel would be very beneficial.
  • Previous exposure to operating CNC equipment (laser cutter preferred) - also beneficial.
  • Above average proficiency using standard office systems and ideally, exposure to CAD software such as Fusion 360 or SolidWorks.
  • Ability to learn and understand technical standards and codes of engineering design.
