We’re looking for a Business Improvement Lead to help us explore novel, exciting, and sometimes radically different solutions.

In this role, you won’t just be tweaking spreadsheets; you’ll be embedding a genuine culture of continuous improvement across our entire organisation. Your mission is to make us simpler, faster, easier and smarter to do business with, ensuring our community is always at the heart of what we do.

This isn't a solo journey – you and the Business Improvement Coordinator will work alongside the organisation and be the bridge that connects different functions, fostering kotahitanga (unity) and collective impact. 

He kōrero mōu – About you

You have a knack for translating "blue sky" thinking into every day, actionable steps, and you tackle challenges with a positive, can-do attitude. Backed by a track record of leading continuous improvement initiatives, you possess a knowledge of improvement methodologies and analytical skills. You are naturally curious, agile, and have a customer-focused mindset, allowing you to listen, adjust, and adapt easily as organisation and community needs change.

Your communication and interpersonal skills mean you can influence, inspire, and build trust with stakeholders at all levels. While familiarity with local government or public sector environment is preferred, what matters most is your ability to interpret customer insights and support driving meaningful change. 

Ngā kawenga matua – What you’ll be doing

As our resident process champion and facilitator, your days will be dynamic, collaborative, and highly impactful. Acting as an improvement process expert, you will guide teams through cross-functional collaboration and work proactively with idea owners to accelerate implementation, translating complex issues into easy-to-understand concepts for kaimahi at all levels. You will take the lead on complex improvement initiatives from concept right through to implementation—defining the scope, establishing milestones, and tracking measurable outcomes using appropriate governance frameworks.

A big part of your role is about connection; you’ll build strong, constructive partnerships across the wider organisation to foster Mahi Tahi, sharing your skills and knowledge to elevate our collective capability. By keeping a close eye on data trends and customer insights, you will lead empathy, prototyping, and experimentation projects to ensure our services are simpler, smarter, and faster for our community.
