Business Operations Specialist
The most important thing you should know about us is that we are decentralised. What does that really mean? It means that even though in NZ we have a revenue of $1.1B (putting us almost in the top 10 for NZ’s largest businesses), we don’t work like that. We avoid red tape and the stuff “corporates” do. Each of our 28 Branch GMs are entrepreneurs, fully supported to run their branch as their business and region and customers need. Many also have an Assistant General Manager, the most recent promoted is just 25 years old.

In your first year, you’ll rotate through different roles and branches to gain practical experience that gives you a solid foundation in operations, and business functions. You’ll build skills and systems knowledge that will set you up for the rest of your career. You’ll also complete our Emerging Leaders Programme, preparing you to take your next step as a leader.
By your second year, you’ll transition into a permanent role within Bidfood, with opportunities across the business in Customer Service, Operations, Despatch, Account Management, Finance, Health & Safety, and Purchasing, as long as you are prepared to go to the region where the role is. That might mean a main centre, but could equally mean one of our other branches in a smaller town.
We are most interested if you…
- Can show you know how to commit and succeed (preferably through completing a degree or another qualification).
- Are keen to learn and grow…we love training people.
- Enjoy taking on new challenges…as there will likely be some projects.
- Like being hands-on, and don’t mind getting your hands dirty… including being prepared to work in the freezer and on night shift when we need you.
- Are open to work at any of our 30 branches across NZ (that newly promoted AGM we mentioned has just moved to their 3rd location since joining, and am sure expects to move again for a GM role!). You will work outside Auckland.

- You are available for an Assessment Centre on the evening of Tuesday 15 July.
- You will be available to start full-time work in Auckland for the five 5 weeks on Monday 28 July.
- You are eligible to work in NZ? We can’t sponsor people for this programme.
- You are mobile? You will work outside Auckland.
- You can drive? There is not always public transport (or Uber) next to all our branches.
