Behavioural Specialist (Psychologist)

Location: South Auckland area.

Hours: 16 hrs/week (0.4 FTE) (Perm/Contract/Fixed Term).

Role Overview: 

Ideal for an independent contractor or a graduate with some experience. This autonomous role involves client-facing time and participation in multi-disciplinary meetings within RDNS and with third parties:

  • Assess and develop Behavioural Support Plans for children with disabilities (mainly Autism Spectrum Disorder, Global Developmental Delay and Intellectual Disability).
  • Deliver staff training. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct functional assessments and develop behaviour support plans.
  • Provide timely intervention recommendations.
  • Apply evidence-based, strength-based, and culturally considerate approaches.
  • Train and educate support staff.
  • Work alongside a multi-disciplinary team to maximise Tamariki/Rangatahi independence, advice on goals setting, restraint and      other relevant practices.

Qualifications:

  • Registered with the Board of Psychologists under the general scope of practice.
  • 2+ years’ experience in a related field preferred, but not essential.
  • Commitment to Ngā tikanga me te reo Māori.
