Surf Life Saving New Zealand - Eastern Region

We are looking for enthusiastic, qualified individuals to join our team educating youth about beach safety in the coastal aquatic environment across the Central, Eastern, and Southern Regions of the country. 

To apply for a position as a Beach Education Instructor you must:

  • Hold a SLSNZ Surf Lifeguard Award (or equivalent qualification)
  • Be able to demonstrate current proficiency for all components of the SLSNZ Surf Lifeguard Award qualification at any time.  
  • Hold a current First Aid Level 1 or Work Place First Aid Qualification. (You will need to know the date you last completed the relevant First Aid qualification).
  • To apply for the Head Beach Education Instructor role, you must also have at least one season of prior Beach Education teaching experience. 

Key responsibilities of a Beach Education instructor include:

  • To work as part of a team to ensure effective delivery of Beach Education Programmes.
  • To represent Surf Life Saving in a professional and manner at all times.
  • To follow guidelines of the Beach Education programmes.
  • To wear the correct uniform at all times when delivering the Beach Education programmes.
  • To provide children with a positive and professional role model.
  • To supervise a safe swimming area for participating groups.
  • To liaise with Surf Club personnel on matters concerning equipment, programmes and club facilities.

Additional key responsibilities for a Head Beach Education Instructor include:

  • To lead a team of instructors to ensure effective delivery of Beach Education programmes.
  • To liaise with Surf Club personnel on matters concerning equipment, programmes and club facilities.
