Mō Tēnei Tūranga Mahi | About the role

This is a permanent, full‑time position for a passionate and experienced Lecturer to join the Bachelor of Social Work programme within the School of Social Sciences and Veterinary Nursing. The role plays a key part in delivering high‑quality teaching, curriculum development, assessment, and research that supports student success and meets Academic Board and professional standards. You will work closely with colleagues, students, and support services across the organisation to deliver contemporary, culturally responsive social work education that reflects EIT’s commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

The appointing salary for this role will be  between $86,667 and $89,639 dependent on skills and experience.

The Lecturer – Bachelor of Social Work is based in Hawke’s Bay, reports to the Head of School Education, Social Sciences and Veterinary Nursing, and will be responsible for:

  • Developing and delivering curriculum and teaching across the Bachelor of Social Work programme.
  • Facilitating effective, student‑centred learning using a range of teaching strategies and delivery modes.
  • Assessing student performance and undertaking moderation in line with academic regulations.
  • Contributing to research and scholarly activity aligned with PBRF expectations.
  • Building positive working relationships with students, colleagues, and internal stakeholders.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Recent experience in the practice of social work and strong theoretical and practical knowledge of current social work modalities.
  • Well‑developed oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to plan, organise, and meet deadlines in a tertiary or professional environment.
  • Teaching experience at tertiary level and/or experience supporting student learning (highly desirable).
  • An understanding of, and commitment to, Te Tiriti o Waitangi and culturally responsive practice.
