The Role

As a Manager within our Bay of Plenty Team, you will take ownership of our compliance function and provide a range of Business Services to clients. This is a fantastic opportunity to take on a mixture of complex accounting and review work, and to lead the way in delivering high quality work to our clients.

This role will suit someone who can take ownership of their work and show more than just an interest in the numbers, you need to have good business acumen and an open communication style. This is an interesting and varied role, the key focus is ensuring financial health and advising on processes to promote profitability, growth, and long-term success for clients’ businesses.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the team by taking ownership of the compliance and tax workflow
  • Reviewing Financial Statements, tax returns, tax opinions, management reports, budgets, forecasts etc
  • Supporting growth initiatives by working alongside business owners not just the Finance Manager
  • Coaching and developing less experienced team members, resolving queries and growing their capability

About you 

You are experienced and capable and enjoy the work you do. It is important that you are dynamic, willing to get to know the whole business and have a genuine positive personality. You need to demonstrate that you are technically strong, can perform the fundamentals of accounting and tax, and that you are competent at preparing accounts to a high level. Just as importantly you need to have a calm, agile, client focused and self-motivated personality.

You will also be able to show:

  • 4+ years’ experience in a CA firm
  • Experience using Xero
  • Have a client focused approach, able to understand the client’s needs
  • Be able to demonstrate critical thinking and strong problem-solving skills
  • Be a self-manager, maintaining high standards
  • Be a great team player, collaborating with the team and sharing your skills and experience with junior team members
