Join the team at Bowater Toyota in Nelson, where you’ll work in a busy, well-established workshop, be supported to develop your Toyota qualifications and WOF certification, and become part of a friendly team representing one of the world’s most recognised automotive brands.
If you’re a qualified Automotive Technician with a great attitude and a willingness to learn, we’d love to hear from you. You don’t need previous Toyota experience to take the next step with us.

We want our people to enjoy where they work and have opportunities to continue developing their careers. You’ll receive:
- Competitive remuneration
- Opportunities to gain or upskill your Toyota qualifications
- Support to gain your WOF certification if required
- Staff discounts and benefits through business partnerships and sponsorships
- An active social club
- A friendly, supportive team environment
- The opportunity to work with Toyota, one of the world’s best-known automotive brands
The role
Our Nelson workshop is busy, varied and fast-paced, so there’s plenty to keep you challenged.
As an Automotive Technician, you’ll be involved in:

- Servicing, repairs and preventative maintenance
- Oil and filter changes
- Cooling system testing
- Transmission and gearbox repairs
- Brake and suspension repairs
- Fluid replacement and general mechanical repairs
- Warrant of Fitness inspections, if certified
Technical ability matters, but your attitude matters just as much to us. We’re looking for someone who enjoys being part of a team, takes pride in their work and is keen to continue learning.
Ideally, you’ll bring:
- A recognised Automotive Technician qualification
- Strong mechanical aptitude and diagnostic skills
- A willingness to learn and develop
- A full New Zealand driver’s licence
- Toyota experience and Toyota qualifications would be an advantage, but aren’t essential
- WOF certification would also be highly regarded, but isn’t essential
If you have the right attitude and technical foundation but don’t yet have Toyota qualifications or WOF certification, we can help you develop these.
