About our role

Ingham Motors Taupo Limited is after a permanent automotive technician to work Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with rostered Saturdays at our workshop in Taupo. As a technician, you are, above all, responsible for performing all kinds of service operations (inspections), defined assembly operations, and maintenance repairs to customer and company vehicles with the highest level of quality and efficiency.


Your responsibilities will include

  • Carry out vehicle servicing, inspections, and repairs to Ingham and manufacturer specifications.
  • Diagnose vehicle faults accurately using the tools, systems, and technical resources available to you.
  • Complete each job to the required standard before moving on to the next, and communicate any additional work required to the Workshop Controller or Service Manager promptly.
  • Manage your time and workload to meet the efficiency expectations of the role, recognising that diagnostic work can vary.
  • Complete job cards accurately as you work and finalise them as soon as each job is done, using dealership systems including the DMS.
  • Maintain the confidentiality and security of customer information at all times.
  • Support the effective operation of the Parts, Service, and Panel and Paint departments, and maintain Ingham's presentation standards across your vehicle, workbench, and work area.
  • Follow all Health and Safety policies and procedures, including correct handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous substances, and use PPE as required for the task.
  • Report incidents, near misses, and unsafe equipment to your manager as soon as practicable.
  • Complete manufacturer training and certifications as required, and keep your technical knowledge current.


Skills & Experience

  • A current, clean full NZ Driver's Licence
  • Level 4 New Zealand National Certificate in Automotive Engineering (or international equivalent) 
  • 5+ years’ experience as a qualified automotive mechanic/technician.
  • Confident with computer systems, including dealership management systems (DMS) and manufacturer diagnostic tools. 
  • WOF Certification (preferred but not essential) 
  • Franchise experience is advantageous.
  • Friendly communicator with good English language skills and a high level of personal integrity.


Benefits

  • Hourly rate between $35.00 per hour and $38.00 per hour.
  • Overtime will be paid at your normal pay rate.
  • This is a permanent, full-time role offering a 42.5-hour minimum work week.
