Are you passionate about developing people and shaping the future of technical excellence? Join Toyota New Zealand as an Associate Manager – Industry Training and Development and take the lead in building a high-performing, future-ready technician workforce across our national store network.

In this permanent, full-time role based at our Palmerston North Head Office (Monday–Friday), you’ll be at the forefront of technician capability designing and delivering impactful training programs, fostering career progression, and driving retention strategies that support our commitment to service excellence.

What’s involved in the role:

  • Create and implement annual training plans and long-term capability strategies aligned with Toyota’s goals.
  • Build technician career pathways, succession plans, and retention initiatives that support growth and engagement.
  • Champion Toyota’s employer brand through outreach, career events, and partnerships with tertiary education providers.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of technical training courses, certification frameworks, and the annual Technical Skills Contest.
  • Lead and coach a team of Technical Trainers to deliver high-impact, engaging training both in-person and online.
  • Monitor training outcomes, technician retention, and budget performance through regular reporting and analysis.

To be successful in this role, ideally you will have:

  • 3+ years’ experience in industry training, people development, or a similar role.
  • Experience designing strategic development and retention programs.
  • Knowledge of education systems, NZQA, or the automotive industry (advantageous).
  • A passion for capability development and empowering others.
  • Strong relationship-building and business development skills.
  • Proven leadership experience with a collaborative and inclusive approach.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and computer skills.
