Bidfood is New Zealand’s leading foodservice distributor, supplying quality food and related products to customers nationwide. We’re currently seeking an experienced Assistant General Manager to join our Auckland North Foodservice branch and work closely alongside the General Manager to drive branch performance, growth and operational excellence.

This is a senior leadership role offering broad exposure across sales, operations, people leadership, financial performance, health & safety and customer service and is well suited to a commercially minded leader ready to take the next step toward full branch leadership.

About the role

Reporting to the General Manager, you will support the overall performance of the Auckland North branch with a strong focus on EBIT, ROFE and service delivery. 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the General Manager in overseeing all aspects of branch operations
  • Driving profitable sales growth and strong customer relationships
  • Leading and developing a high-performing team, including recruitment, coaching and performance management
  • Supporting business strategy development and execution
  • Ensuring compliance with Health & Safety, Food Safety (HACCP) and company policies
  • Reviewing financial performance, budgets and operational KPIs
  • Supporting effective inventory, asset and risk management
  • Promoting MyBidfood, BidIQ and productivity tools across the branch
  • Acting as the senior leader in the General Manager’s absence when required

About you

You will bring:

  • Proven senior leadership experience within foodservice, wholesale or a related FMCG environment
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience managing budgets, margins and operational performance
  • Excellent people leadership skills with the ability to influence, develop and engage teams
  • A strategic mindset with a hands-on, solutions-focused approach
  • High standards around safety, compliance and service delivery
  • Strong communication skills and the confidence to lead across multiple functions

Experience in a decentralised, multi-function business environment will be highly regarded.
