Port Taranaki is seeking an experienced Asset Lifecycle Manager to join our team. 

The opportunity 

This is a senior leadership role responsible for guiding the strategic planning, performance and long-term value of our infrastructure assets. 

You will play a critical role in translating asset management strategy into practical investment, maintenance, renewal and operational decisions. Reporting to the GM, Asset Management & Assurance, you will help ensure our infrastructure assets continue to deliver safe, reliable and commercially sustainable outcomes for the business and the region. 

Key responsibilities include: 

  • Lead, coach and align teams across engineering, project delivery, and maintenance planning, building strong partnerships and clear accountability for strategic asset outcomes.
  • Provide leadership across asset lifecycle planning, asset performance, asset health, reliability improvement and risk-based decision making.
  • Develop lifecycle investment plans, renewal strategies and capital priorities that align with business objectives, growth opportunities, financial plans and long-term asset value.
  • Integrate engineering, maintenance, operational, commercial and asset information to support informed investment, intervention and whole-of-life cost decisions.
  • Strengthen asset information governance, configuration management and engineering data integrity practices to support safe, reliable and commercially sustainable outcomes.

About you 

You are an experienced senior asset management professional with a proven ability to balance operational performance, risk, resilience and investment priorities across complex infrastructure portfolios. You bring strong commercial judgement, strategic thinking and the ability to influence decision making at multiple levels of an organisation. You are comfortable operating between long-term planning and practical implementation, ensuring decisions support both operational requirements and broader business objectives. 

To be successful in this role you will ideally have:

  • Proven people leadership experience, with the ability to lead, coach and influence multidisciplinary teams across engineering, maintenance planning, and project management.
  • Significant experience leading asset management, infrastructure planning, lifecycle investment or asset performance functions.
  • Strong asset management expertise, including lifecycle planning, asset integrity, reliability, renewal strategies, infrastructure investment planning and risk-based decision making.
  • Commercial acumen and analytical capability, including capital planning, business case development, budgeting, investment prioritisation and whole-of-life cost optimisation.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Asset Management, Engineering, Infrastructure Management, Finance or a related discipline, with ports, infrastructure, utilities or other 24/7 operational experience considered advantageous.
