This is a permanent, full-time position based at Horizons Regional House in Palmerston North. In this role, you will help improve how asset information supports the management of river and drainage infrastructure. Working with asset, works-tracking, financial and geospatial information, you will support the planning, delivery and reporting of essential flood protection and drainage work.
You will provide analysis, data management and trusted advice to River Management Operations teams, helping turn asset information into meaningful insights for decision-making. Building strong relationships across the organisation, you will lead improvements to the quality, accessibility and use of asset information, enabling better asset management outcomes.
Depending on your skills, experience and expertise, you may be appointed as either Asset Information Advisor – Technical or Senior Asset Information Advisor. The senior role carries additional responsibility for strategic and technical leadership, mentoring colleagues, and driving good practice across the River Management Asset Management team.

We are seeking an information professional who combines strong analytical and report writing expertise with the ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders. You'll be someone who enjoys turning data into insights, and helping improve the way asset information for River Flood and Drainage activity supports operational and strategic outcomes enabling effective delivery of the River Flood and Drainage activity.
You may not have previous experience with asset information; however, you might have had a similar role wrangling information in the public sector. You’ll hold a relevant tertiary qualification and have hands-on experience in database management, with strong skills across relevant information technology. As a trusted technical expert, you'll enjoy using data and information to solve problems, write reports, and helping ensure asset information is accurate, accessible and fit for purpose. Experience with information systems, GIS and spatial data technologies will be an advantage, along with your ability to communicate complex information clearly to a general audience.
