About the role
The Aro ki te Hā Team Leader provides leadership and direction for the Aro ki te Hā Day Programme, ensuring the service is inclusive, culturally grounded, and guided by te ao Māori. The role leads the development and delivery of the programme’s goals and objectives, embedding Māori worldviews and values across all activities.

What you will be doing
- Lead the day-to-day operations of the activities space, ensuring safe, effective, and consistent service delivery in collaboration with service leaders.
- Integrate and embed mātauranga Māori projects and initiatives across the activities space and HomeGround laneway areas where services are delivered to whānau.
- Provide direct supervision, regular 1:1 meetings, team meetings, performance reviews, and mentoring to build a culturally responsive, high-performing team.
- Work collaboratively with other Mission departments to provide safe, accessible, and welcoming spaces for whānau to engage with services.
- Develop and implement initiatives that are responsive to mātauranga Māori and support continuous improvement in culturally safe practice.
What we are looking for
- A relevant tertiary qualification (or equivalent experience) in a field such as social services, health, leadership, management, teaching, or business administration.
- Capacity to demonstrate through actions commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the Mission’s values of Manaakitanga, Atawhai, Rangapū and Mana Tika, Mana Ōrite.
- Demonstrated experience in leading, supervising, or mentoring a team within a health, social, or community service environment, ideally in the not-for-profit sector
- Qualification or equivalent experience in facilitation, training, or programme delivery.
- Full clean New Zealand driver’s licence or working towards getting one.

About the Organisation
Auckland City Mission - Te Tāpui Atawhai exists to stand alongside those in our community who are facing poverty, homelessness, hunger, and isolation.
For more than 100 years, the Mission has responded to the changing needs of Tāmaki Makaurau. Today, we provide a wide range of integrated services across multiple sites - from food and housing to healthcare and detox services - supporting tens of thousands of Aucklanders every year. We combine compassionate service with wraparound care, supporting people for however long and in whatever way is needed.
