Toi Ohomai delivers quality vocational education and training to both domestic and international students, across five main campuses in Rotorua, Tauranga, Taupō, Tokoroa and Whakatāne, and 68 delivery sites across the Bay of Plenty and South Waikato. From the 1st April 2020 we became a subsidiary organisation for NZ Institute of Skills & Technology (working name) and part of a transformational change unifying all 16 Institutes of Technology and Polytechnics across Aotearoa; together with other work-based, provider-based and online learning. Collectively we will be NZ’s largest tertiary education provider with national and regional reach enabling learners and employers to move between workplaces and other educational offerings and between locations as their needs change.

This role provides Application Support across our campuses ensuring academic and administrative information system services are operating at optimum efficiency and effectiveness. 

The key responsibilities for this position include:

  • Application and database support
  • Data analysis
  • Change coordination
  • Working with vendors to upgrade or co-ordinate application upgrades
  • Working with project teams to implement application changes
  • Experience working with Microsoft server
  • Documenting applications for support purposes
  • SQL Scripting knowledge would be advantageous

The skills, experience and qualifications required for this role include:

  • A degree in Business Computing or a similar tertiary level computing qualification
  • A good understanding of development practices in virtualised environments
  • An excellent understanding of managing, maintaining and administering MS SQL databases
  • An understanding of ITIL service techniques
  • Previous proven experience in troubleshooting application issues in a large environment
  • Previous experience Performing analyses on software application functionality and suggesting improvements
  • Excellent customer facing skills and be fully competent in providing remote support.   

Normal hours of work for this role will be 8 hours per day however there may be times where flexibility is required. This role may also require some weekend work and work at different locations as required.
