The joint venture ownership between Southern Cross Healthcare and Central Lakes Trust ensures leading clinical service delivery whilst maintaining a genuine focus to provide healthcare services closer to home for general population of Central Otago.

Mō te Tūranga | About the Role

We’re looking for an experienced Anaesthetic Technician / RNAA to join our high-performing team in a role where your expertise truly matters. You’ll play a critical role in delivering safe, seamless care throughout every stage of the anaesthetic process, working closely with our multi-disciplinary team while also being confident to work independently when required. 

You’ll thrive in a fast-paced theatre environment, take pride in your clinical judgement, and bring a calm, capable presence to every list. Independence is key — you’ll be trusted to manage your workload, anticipate needs, and contribute to excellent patient outcomes with minimal supervision. You’ll be part of a supportive, values-driven team that prioritises quality, safety, and patient-centred care. This position is 60 hours per fortnight, worked as three 10-hour shifts per week, with the opportunity for additional hours.

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and Experience

  • Current NZ registration as an Anaesthetic Technician with a recognised qualification OR Registered Nurse registration with a current practising certificate and recognised anaesthetic credentials
  • A minimum of 3–5 years’ experience, with proven ability to work confidently and independently 
  • A genuine passion for anaesthesia and a strong work ethic — you take pride in turning up, pitching in, and doing your best work every day
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build trusted relationships with Anaesthetists, theatre teams, patients, and whānau
  • Strong technical expertise across perioperative anaesthetic practice, with sound clinical judgement
  • Flexibility to work rostered shifts, with openness to picking up additional hours when available
