The hospital provides a first-class preadmission service, admissions services, day surgery and three inpatient wards including a high dependency area. The hospital offers a wide range of elective surgical services including Orthopaedic, Gynaecology, Ophthalmology, Oral and Facial Maxillary, Urology, Otolaryngology (ENT), Plastic & Reconstructive, Bariatric, General, and Endoscopic surgery. The hospital employs over 350 highly skilled and trained staff to ensure patients receive high quality care.
Mō te Tūranga | About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Anaesthetic Technician or RNAA to join our Theatre team as an Anaesthetic Team Leader in a permanent, full-time position. Reporting to the Anaesthetic Manager, you will lead and coordinate the day-to-day operations of Anaesthetic Services, ensuring the delivery of safe, efficient and high-quality patient care across our operating theatres. This is a hands-on leadership role that combines clinical expertise with people leadership, allowing you to remain actively involved in anaesthetic practice while supporting and developing a high-performing team.
You will provide clinical guidance, coaching and mentoring, promote best practice standards, and foster a culture of continuous improvement across your team. You will lead the education portfolio and be responsible for staff onboarding, coordinating in-house education, managing perioperative student placements, supporting the Anaesthetic Nursing Program, and facilitating the implementation and development of the Anaesthetic Technician scope of practice, including workforce upskilling.
Working collaboratively with anaesthetists, surgeons, nursing teams and other healthcare professionals, you will help drive quality initiatives, monitor clinical outcomes, support risk management activities, and contribute to service development. You will also oversee the maintenance, evaluation and procurement of anaesthetic equipment and supplies, ensuring compliance with recognised standards and supporting the ongoing advancement of Anaesthetic Services.
