Akonga Safety Checking Coordinator
Mō Tēnei Tūranga Mahi | About the Role
- The purpose of this role is to oversee and administer the police vetting process for students, ensuring all checks are conducted accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with legal, privacy, and organisational requirements.
- The role is responsible for coordinating vetting applications, maintaining confidential records, and liaising with relevant internal stakeholders and external agencies to support timely clearance outcomes.
- Through effective governance and attention to detail, the role safeguards the organisation, supports student eligibility for placement or study, and ensures a safe and compliant environment for all.
The appointing salary for this role will be between $59,700 - $74,600 dependent on skills and experience.
The Ākonga Safety Checking Coordinator is based in our Centre for Health and Social Practice – Clinical Experience Team, reporting to the Clinical Experience Manager.

To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in administration and coordination roles, preferably within a Health & Safety or compliance-focused environment
- Demonstrated experience or an understanding of relevant legislative frameworks (e.g. Children’s Act / Children’s Worker requirements)
- Working knowledge of police vetting processes would be an advantage
