The Role

We are looking to employ an Activities Assistant for our busy Enliven care home in Oamaru. Our activities department is responsible for coordinating residents’ activities and events within the care home. You will be supporting the lives & wellbeing of older people living at Iona Care Centre by providing enriching and interactive activities & events. 

 Assist with activities that enhance personal dignity, quality of life, independence, and connectedness for each resident. You will be providing quality and meaningful activities to meet clients’ needs and maximise their independence while respecting their unique identity and dignity. 

Hours:  Permanent, part-time- 10 hours per week to be worked 5hrs/day, 1000 - 1530hrs on Thursday and 1200-1730hrs on Friday.  Opportunity to pick up additional hours to cover leave in our activities department.  


About You

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have exceptional planning and organizational skills 
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills including relationship building and advocacy skills
  • Be energetic, enthusiastic, self-motivated and creative
  • Have a full driver’s license
  • Be empathetic and patient with elderly people.
