Southern Cross Christchurch Hospital is the largest hospital within Southern Cross Healthcare’s national network and easily accessed within central Christchurch. The hospital consists of ten digital operating theatres and features robotic technology with a highly experienced robotic team, advanced digital scanning technologies, and consulting facilities onsite.

The hospital provides a first-class preadmission service, admissions services, day surgery and three inpatient wards including a high dependency area. The hospital offers a wide range of elective surgical services including Orthopaedic, Gynaecology, Ophthalmology, Oral and Facial Maxillary, Urology, Otolaryngology (ENT), Plastic & Reconstructive, Bariatric, General, and Endoscopic surgery. The hospital employs over 350 highly skilled and trained staff to ensure patients receive high quality care.

Mō te Tūranga | About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Accounts Administrator to join our Christchurch team in an important role supporting the smooth day-to-day running of our hospital’s financial operations. You will play a key part in ensuring accounts and contract administration processes are managed accurately and efficiently.

This is a varied, hands-on position that combines accounts administration with elements of contract administration. You’ll be responsible for managing invoicing across both general and contract work, overseeing approval processes, and ensuring all financial transactions are processed in a timely and accurate manner. The role also involves maintaining debtor accounts, receipting payments, and following up on outstanding balances while resolving any discrepancies that may arise.

Working closely with the wider team, you will contribute to both Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable activities, as well as supporting contract-related invoicing and approvals. This role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple priorities, and a collaborative approach to ensure financial processes run smoothly and deadlines are consistently met.

This is a full-time permanent position based in our Southern Cross Christchurch Hospital.

  • Proven experience in accounts administration, including invoicing, receipting, and debtor management
  • Excellent accuracy and attention to detail when handling financial data
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Understanding of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions
  • Experience processing approvals and working within financial systems
  • Confidence following up outstanding payments and resolving queries
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills (particularly Excel and Outlook)
  • Exposure to contract administration or ACC invoicing processes is desirable
  • Experience in a healthcare or similar environment is desirable
