Mō Tēnei Tūranga Mahi | About the Role

This position for an Academic Staff Member (ASM) within the Animal Care Team involves teaching on our Animal Care programmes. As an ASM within this team you will be required to teach in the classroom and tutor students; research, review, and update resources and classroom materials; set and mark assessments and enter results; assist with the recruitment and care of students; and actively participate in the team and faculty environment.

The appointing salary for this role will be between $60,000 up to $80,000 dependent on skills and experience.

The ASM Animal Care Team is based in our Toi Ohomai | Te Pūkenga reporting to the Academic Leader and will be responsible for: 


  • Delivery      across our suite of programmes which includes the Level 3 NZ Certificate      in Animal Care, Level 4 NZ Certificate in Animal Management, Level 5 NZ      Certificate in Animal Technology and Level 6 NZ Diploma in Veterinary      Nursing.
  • Providing      leadership in student management
  • Developing,      planning and implementing student assessment, courses and resource      material
  • Monitoring      student progress and results and providing timely and accurate advice and      support as required 
  • Planning      and timetabling for the programme as well as assisting with recruitment

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Minimum      of a Diploma in Veterinary Nursing or currently studying towards this
  • At      least 5+ years’ work experience in a relevant field 
  • Adult      Teaching qualification (preferred)
  • Importantly      you will be able to demonstrate strong alignment and commitment to our Toi      Ohomai Values.
