Mō Tēnei Tūranga Mahi | About the Role

We are looking for an Academic Staff Member (ASM) to join the Legal Studies Team within the Faculty of Business, Design and Service Industries. This role involves teaching on our NZ Diploma in Legal Executive Studies and/or NZ Diploma of Conveyancing programmes. 

As an ASM within this team you will be required to teach fully online: tutor students, run online tutorials, review and update resources; set and mark assessments and enter results; pastoral care of students; and actively participate in the team and wider organisation environment.

· Fixed Term Part Time (0.7 FTE = 26 hours per week)

· 100% working from home – great team dynamic and support

The appointing salary for this role will be between $75,000 up to $78,000, dependent on skills and experience.

The role is based in our Toi Ohomai | Te Pūkenga reporting to the Academic Lead and will be responsible for: 


  • Delivery of the JUST5004 Law Office Practice course which is part of both the NZ Diploma in Legal Executive Studies and the NZ Diploma of Conveyancing programmes.
  • Developing, planning and implementing student assessments and resource materials.
  • Monitoring student progress and results and providing timely and accurate advice and support as required.

To be successful in this role you will have:

· Experience in teaching fully online programmes (ideally Moodle).

· Degree level tertiary qualification in Law.

· Or/Tertiary qualification including specific area of law to be taught.

· At least three (3) years’ work experience in the legal field.

· The ability to be self-motivated with high work ethic.
