Mō Tēnei Tūranga Mahi | About the Role
We are seeking an experienced individual in the Automotive industry to join our teaching team as an academic staff member in the NZ Certificate in Automotive Engineering Level 3. You will be supporting ākonga [learners] to gain trade skills at pre-apprenticeship level.
The appointing salary for this role will be between $77,500 and $96,800 dependent on skills and experience.
The Academic Staff Member – Automotive Tutor is based in our Rotokauri Campus, reporting to the Team Manager and will be responsible for:
· Teaching Excellence - using different teaching methods, create engaging lessons, give helpful feedback and help ākonga to build their skills and knowledge in the NZ Level 3 Automotive Engineering programme. Programme information can be found here.
· Cultural Competence – creating a culturally safe, inclusive learning environments that respect diversity, international ākonga and Te Tiriti o Waitangi-based practice
· Professional Currency – maintaining subject matter knowledge and industry connections with the automotive industry to bring real-world learning to the classroom
· Personal Attributes – having strong interpersonal skills, an innovative mindset, problem-solving ability and commitment to reflective practice and Wintec values
He kōrero mōu| About you
To be successful in this role you will have:
· A relevant trade qualification at Level 3 or higher in Automotive Engineering as a light vehicle technician
· A minimum of 5 years practical industry experience in the automotive industry with at least 1 year of experience at a supervisory or team leader level
· A commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment, ensuring all students are supported in their educational journey.
· Excellent presentation and communication skills
· Passion and energy for teaching and training others
· A full class 1 NZ driver’s licence
· Be a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident or hold a current NZ work permit
Preferred:
· Unit standard 4098 and the NZ certificate in Adult Tertiary Teaching Practice (or be willing to complete these courses)
