Bachelor of Midwifery Academic Staff member  - Tauranga

1.0 FTE permanent position available.  We will consider those looking for part-time positions also.

About the role 

We are looking for a midwifery academic staff member to join our dynamic team for Te Kuratini o Waikato Bachelor of Midwifery programme. We have a commitment to excellence in our teaching and support of midwifery ākonga. We are interested in hearing from people with a strong desire to support work towards equitable outcomes for Māori and mana-enhancing Te Tiriti o Waitangi partnerships. 

This role is based in Tauranga and is focussed on the running of the Bay of Plenty hub and clinical placements for this region. From time to time, you may be required to travel to Wintec’s city campus in Hamilton.

You will work with ākonga to support their learning by providing teaching within the degree programme and facilitating student problem solving, reflection on practice and skills development.   

To be eligible for consideration, you will:  

  • Be a Registered Midwife within Aotearoa, with at least five years’ experience who is passionate about midwifery education  
  • Have a commitment to development of understanding of Mātauranga Māori, Tikanga and Te Reo.
  • Be committed to working in a Te Tiriti honouring programme 
  • Confident with clinical, face to face and the online teaching environment 
  • A passion for supporting students to succeed 
  • Relevant teaching experience and holds a completed Adult Tertiary Teaching certificate or equivalent or be prepared to enrol in this.
  • Hold a Masters’ or PhD degree or be currently engaged in ongoing or committed to start post graduate education.
