Our Fleet Services Group is responsible for servicing a diverse fleet, including mobile harbour cranes, heavy forklifts, container handlers, trucks, trailers, and utility vehicles. As an Apprentice Mechanic, you will receive support from experienced trade-qualified staff and learning providers. 

What You’ll Do: 

  • Engage in both hands-on and theory-based learning and assessment. 
  • Gain practical experience in our Port workshop, working alongside qualified professionals. 
  • Pursue an NZQA accredited automotive heavy equipment trade qualification. 

What We’re Looking For: 

  • Technical school qualifications (NCEA Level 2 in Maths, Physics, English, etc.). 
  • A relevant pre-trade qualification. 
  • Relevant work experience (automotive, mechanical, engineering, electronics). 
  • Minimum Class 1 license. 

Ideal Candidate: 

  • Interest in mechanical servicing and comfort working at heights (e.g., from elevated work platforms, mobile harbour crane servicing). 
  • Ability, motivation, and commitment to succeed. 
  • Positive attitude and reliable work ethic. 
  • Excellent communication skills. 
  • Ability to thrive in a safe, team-based culture providing 24/7 cover.
