Are you an experienced Clinician wanting better resourcing and more creative interventions?

We are now looking for an Alcohol and Other Drugs Clinician with health sector/addictions experience to take on the AOD Clinician role for a service in partnership with CADS that aims to provide continuing care for tāngata whai ora and their whānau under the (Substance Addiction - Compulsory Assessment and Treatment (SACAT) Act. 

Based at our New Lynn community hub, Te Tāwharau; this community-based role covers the whole Auckland region from Wellsford down to Port Waikato. The service is mobile with access to a flexi-fund, ensuring we are adequately resourced to provide agile, creative and responsive support. 

You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team that supports whai ora with addiction (alcohol & drug) and co-existing physical and mental health challenges on their recovery journey. The service hours are 9.30am – 6.00pm Monday to Friday, with some flexibility required to be responsive to tangata whai ora and their whānau. 

Our ideal candidate will have

  • At least 1 years’ relevant experience working in a community-based addiction setting, including experience of complex case management working with people with significant co-existing physical and mental health challenges 
  • A relevant (level 7) qualification e.g. Bachelors in AOD, Health Science, Social Work, Psychology
  • Registration or an interest in working towards registration as an AOD Practitioner
  • Expertise in motivational interviewing, risk management, relapse prevention and best practice clinical interventions for substance dependence
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and of the cultural norms and customs of tangāta whenua, Pacific peoples and other diverse cultural groups
  • Strong communication, prioritisation and organisational skills
  • A collaborative approach and ability to work flexibly in a changing environment
  • A full New Zealand driver's licence

In return we offer:

  • A competitive salary of $69,000 to $79,000 depending on registration and experience 
  • A pool car to use for travel to and from work
  • 22 days annual leave and 5 days paid study leave per annum
  • Monday to Friday role, no shift or weekend work 
  • The opportunity to be involved in the development of a new community service
